Tulsa International Airport

Five miles northeast of Tulsa's downtown, in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, is the civil-military Tulsa International Airport. After the city bought it in 1929, it was known as Tulsa Municipal Airport; the current name was adopted in 1963. Despite solely offering domestic travel, Tulsa International Airport maintains its international status due to its customs and border patrol capabilities. Tulsa Air National Guard Base, which is co-located with Oklahoma Air National Guard, is home to the 138th Fighter Wing. American Airlines' worldwide maintenance offices are located at the airport. With three asphalt runways, the airport is 4,360 acres in size. airport operated 86,011 aircraft as of August 31, 2023, with an average of 235 every day: 40% operated by commercial airlines, 18% by air taxis, 27% by general aviation, and 15% by the military.

Built on the southeast portion of the airfield during World War II, Air Force Plant No. 3 was home to Douglas Aircraft's manufacturing facilities for a variety of aircraft models. Following the war, aircraft production, modification, repair, and research were conducted out of this site by Douglas (later renamed McDonnell Douglas) and Rockwell International (later became Boeing). A portion of the facility is presently used by Spirit AeroSystems to manufacture commercial airline parts for Boeing aircraft, while the other portion is used by IC Bus Corporation to construct school buses. At a site on the east side of the airport, directly north of runway 26, Spirit AeroSystems also fabricates parts for Gulfstream aircraft and Boeing aircraft, including floor beams and wings. On the northwest side of the airport sits the Tulsa Air and Space Museum.

An updated concourse may be seen in the airport's smaller regional terminal. A1 through A11 are the 11 departure gates of Concourse A, which is home to Allegiant, American, and Delta. Seven are being used at the moment. Out of the 10 gates on Concourse B, only seven include jet bridges since it opened in 2012. Utilizing Concourse B are Southwest and United. The 1960s-era terminal's renovations started in 2010. Designers Gensler and Benham Companies created the renovations. The airline's fleet of around 800 aircraft, which consists of the Airbus A320 series, Boeing 787, and Boeing 737, is maintained at TUL, which also serves as the global headquarters for all American Airlines engineering and maintenance operations.
