Tucson International Airport

Located in Pima County, Arizona, 8 miles south of Tucson's downtown, lies Tucson International Airport, a civil-military facility owned by the City of Tucson. After Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, it is the second busiest airport in Arizona. With more than 10,000 passenger boardings annually, it is classified as a key commercial service airport under the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015. According to figures from the Federal Aviation Administration, the airport saw 1,779,679 enplanements in 2011, down from 1,844,228 in 2010. The Tucson Airport Authority, which also manages general aviation airport Ryan Airfield, has a long-term lease to run Tucson International. Sun Tran bus lines 11 and 25 provide public transit to the airport.

The Tucson Airport Authority is a special nonprofit organization that was founded in 1948 by an Arizona state charter after being formed and designed by prominent local businesspeople. The primary commercial airport in the area, Tucson International Airport (TUS), and Ryan Airfield (RYN), a general aviation airfield west of Tucson, are both run by the TAA. TUS is located eight miles south of the city's core business center and spans 7,986 acres. The airport complex consists of hundreds of buildings totaling millions of square feet of area. The TAA is constantly on the lookout for possibilities to purchase properties that are strategically and long-term significant and that are adjacent and contiguous. The airport is situated at a height of 2,643 feet on 7,938 acres. Two asphalt runways are present.

The airport in Tucson, Arizona, has one terminal. There are three concourses within it: Concourse B has eleven gates, B1 through B11, while Concourse A has nine, A1 through A9. Concourse C has one gate, C1, and is housed in a different structure to the west of the main terminal. The main terminal is divided into three floors. Pick-up of passengers and luggage claim are located on the ground floor. Concessions, airline gates, airline tickets, and TSA are located on the top level. The offices of the Tucson Airport Authority are located on the third floor, which is reserved for conferences and meetings. As of right now, 23 airports in the United States and Canada are served by daily nonstop flights from Tucson International Airport. One-stop connections are also available to over 400 locations worldwide. Both the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport and Tucson International Airport have terminals that are shaped like broad Xs.
