San Antonio International Airport

The San Antonio International Airport is located in San Antonio, Texas, in the United States. About eight miles north of Downtown, in Uptown Central San Antonio, is where it is located. It is 2,305 acres in size with three runways. 809 feet are separating it from sea level. SAT's 27 gates handle an average of 260 departures and arrivals daily, catering to 14 airlines that provide nonstop flights to 53 locations in the US and Mexico. After the airports in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW and Love), Houston (Intercontinental and Hobby), and Austin, the airport is the sixth busiest in Texas and the 45th busiest in the US in terms of passenger traffic.

The City of San Antonio acquired 1,200 acres (490 hectares) of undeveloped land, then located north of the city boundaries and currently a part of the Uptown District, in 1941 to rename it "San Antonio Municipal Airport." This effort gave rise to San Antonio International Airport. Due to World War II requirements, the airport was not completed until after the conflict. A sizable chunk of the airport's northeastern area was forced into federal government service. The United States Army Air Forces used this region, which was once known as Alamo Field, as a training base. American Airlines began flying out of the airport the following year, having been served by Braniff Airlines originally in 1943. The airport formerly known as San Antonio Municipal Airport was renamed San Antonio International Airport in 1944. To handle the anticipated expansion and demands of passengers, the airport will create a new terminal, remodel the current Terminal A, and modernize the airfield and highways starting in 2023 and planned for completion in 2028.

There are 27 jet bridge gates spread over the airport's two terminals. Originally designed to accommodate guests to HemisFair '68, the original one-level terminal (previously known as Terminal 2) opened in 1953 with ground-loading holding spaces. It was later enlarged twice, first adding additional east and west wings in 1959 and then adding an eight-gate satellite concourse in 1968. Terminals A and B include family restrooms. There are change areas and chairs for both adults and children in every family restroom. Airports make every effort to ensure that parking is convenient, whether you are using it for a short trip or several hours. Vehicle parking is available to passengers for a maximum of 30 days on-site.
