Salt Lake City International Airport

Around 4 miles west of Salt Lake City's downtown, in Utah, United States, is Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), a combined civil and military airport. Additionally, being a significant gateway to the West Coast and Intermountain West, the airport functions as a hub for Delta Air Lines. 343 scheduled nonstop flights to 93 locations in North America and Europe depart from the airport per day. Undoubtedly, this airport is the busiest in Utah. The Salt Lake City Corporation agency responsible for managing and operating the airport is the Salt Lake City agency of Airports. The nine members of the advisory board are volunteers from the community and are appointed by the City Council, the Mayor, and the city. Airports in Tooele Valley and South Valley Regional are also managed by the agency.

SLC is the 70th busiest airport worldwide and the 21st busiest in the US. Every day, more than 330 planes are scheduled to arrive at 95 nonstop locations. A record 26,952,754 people passed through SLC's airport in 2023. A $5.1 billion reconstruction project is now underway in SLC. The program's first phase launched in the fall of 2020, and its second phase followed in the fall of 2023. Phase 3 is expected to open in the fall of 2024, and Phase 4 by the year 2026. The project is being financed by user fees, which are mostly provided by the airlines that service Salt Lake City, in addition to savings, vehicle rental fees, fees for passenger facilities, and airport revenue bonds. The project is not being funded by municipal taxes.

The goal of the Salt Lake City Department of Airports is to create and oversee an airport network that is owned by the city and offers top-notch transportation options and services to maximize aviation customers' convenience, safety, and efficiency. The goal is to set a new standard for customer service excellence and rank Salt Lake City among the world's most convenient and effective air transportation hubs. Two concourses (A & B) and one terminal are present. The terminal is next to a terrace for short-term parking. The airport is home to the reservations department run by Delta Air Lines. The United States Post Office, Delta and SkyWest Airlines maintenance hangars, two fire stations, an aviation rescue and firefighting training facility, and other buildings are examples of support infrastructure.
