Situated near the hamlet of Hebron in Boone County, Kentucky, the United States, lies the public Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The Cincinnati tri-state area is served by the airport. The airport code, CVG, is taken from Covington, Kentucky, the closest city at the time of the airport's establishment. The total size of the airport is 7,700 acres. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has classified it as a medium-hub major commercial service facility in its National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2023–2027. In addition to handling a large number of domestic and international cargo flights each day, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport provides nonstop passenger service to over 50 destinations in North America and Europe.
According to cargo traffic, the airport is presently the 12th largest in the world and the sixth busiest in the US. North America's fastest-growing cargo airport is CVG. The airport is located in a county region that is not incorporated. According to a number of Cincinnati Enquirer publications, the airport is located in Hebron. The administrative headquarters is located in Erlanger, whereas the airport terminal is located in Hebron. The airport is neither located in the city of Erlanger, nor is it inside the boundaries of the Hebron census-designated place, as defined by the United States Census Bureau. The old Comair offices, located at 77 Comair Boulevard, was the home of the American regional airline Comair.
Prior to 2015, CVG was frequently listed as one of the priciest major airports in the US. At CVG, Delta operated more than 75% of the flights, a statistic that is sometimes used to justify the comparatively high cost of domestic tickets. After Terminal 2 closed in May 2012, CVG reopened Terminal 3 and moved all non-Delta airlines to Concourse A, which was now the only terminal. There are 51 gates spread over two concourses and one terminal at the airport. Access to both concourses is restricted to an underground moving walkway and people mover, as they are islands. Concourse B is where all foreign arrivals that do not have prior clearance are processed. Adjacent to the main terminal, the airport inaugurated a new car rental and ground transportation hub in 2021. While dining at the airport, travelers now have a few good options.
