Indianapolis International Airport

Indianapolis International Airport is an international airport in Marion County, Indiana, that is seven miles southwest of the city's center. The Indianapolis Airport Authority is the owner and operator of it. It is classified as a medium hub main commercial service facility under the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021. There are flights from the airport to more than 40 locations in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The airport takes approximately 7,700 acres in Marion County's Wayne and Decatur townships. The FedEx SuperHub in Memphis, Tennessee, handles more freight than the FedEx Express hub located in Indianapolis, Indiana, which is the second biggest hub globally. Furthermore, IND routinely ranks in the top 10 busiest U.S. airports for air cargo throughput due to FedEx's operations. Allegiant Air continues to use Indianapolis as a priority location, and Republic Airways also has its headquarters at the airport. On the north side of the airport site lies the Indianapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZID), one of the 22 recognized FAA area control centers.

There are 39 gates at Indianapolis International Airport spread over one terminal and two concourses. The modern terminal bears Col. Harvey Weir Cook's name and opened its doors in 2008. One of the first to be developed and constructed in the United States after the September 11 attacks was this one. Concourse A is where all foreign arrivals are handled. On the first level of the adjacent parking garage are eight car rental companies and the Ground Transportation Center, which offers information on limousine, shuttle bus, hotel courtesy cars, and other transportation services including IndyGo bus service.

This location also handles all rental car pickups and drops, saving clients from having to travel to and from the isolated processing centers of various firms. Each level of the five-story parking garage is 11 acres in size. The public can visit all of Civic Plaza's stores, but post-security sections are only accessible to those with valid tickets. The airport has a wide variety of options for dining, whether you're looking for a fast snack on your way to the terminal gate or you have a few hours to kill and want to treat yourself to a nice meal.
