Guanajuato International Airport

In the Mexican state of Guanajuato, Silao is home to Guanajuato International Airport. Six million people live in the State of Guanajuato, which includes the towns of Celaya, Guanajuato, Irapuato, Salamanca, and San Miguel de Allende. It serves as the primary international airport for both the state and the Greater León Metropolitan Area. As a gateway for international travel, it connects Central Mexico to a number of locations in the United States, in addition to providing internal flights inside Mexico. It provides general aviation, freight, logistics, and flight training businesses in addition to acting as a center city for Volaris.

Located on the central Mexican plateau, the lowland cultural region known as "El Bajío" is the source of the name of Bajío Airport, which is managed by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP). In terms of passengers, it is the ninth busiest airport in Mexico and the seventh busiest for travel from outside the country. The airport handled 2,603,200 passengers in2022, and that number rose to 3,220,800 in2023, a significant 23.7% rise from the year before and the ninth airport in Mexico to achieve three million passengers in a calendar year. The Guanajuato airport is situated at a height of 1,815 meters above mean sea level, halfway between the towns of León and Silao. The airport features a solitary 3,500-meter runway with an asphalt surface, known as 13/31. Nine stands for narrow-body aircraft are available on the commercial aviation apron.

Both local and international flight arrivals and departures are handled by the passenger terminal. The baggage claim area, the arrivals area with customs and immigration facilities, and the departures section with a check-in area, security checkpoint, and departures concourse with gates 4-6 that offer direct access to the apron so that passengers can walk to their aircraft are all located on the ground floor. Access to the top level, which has snack bars, gift shops, and gates 1 through 3, which have jet bridges for boarding, is available from this departure concourse. There are long-term and short-term parking options available at the airport. On-site car rental services are offered. Primera Plus and Unebus provide interstate bus services to a number of locations, such as Purísima del Rincón, San Francisco del Rincón, León, San Miguel de Allende, Silao, and Guanajuato.
