Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport

The main international airport servicing Detroit, Michigan, and the surrounding metropolitan region is Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. It is classified as a large hub main commercial service facility by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021. The airport comprises two passenger terminals, four concourses, and 147 gates spread across 4,850 acres. With over 1,100 daily flights to and from four continents, Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is one of the major air transportation hubs in the globe. The Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA), which also runs the neighboring Willow Run Airport (YIP), a significant business, cargo, and general aviation facility, is responsible for running DTW.

The airport serves as both a base for Spirit Airlines and a key hub for Delta Air Lines. Detroit is the primary Eastern US entry point for Delta Airlines to Asia. In addition to serving 39 US states, the airport offers service to 30 foreign locations. The airport, which is administered by the Wayne County Airport Authority, features two terminals, 129 in-service gates, and six runways. Maintenance facilities at Detroit Metropolitan Airport are equipped to service and repair airplanes up to the size of the Boeing 747-400. Ever since its establishment in the late 1920s, Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) has been an integral part of the country's aviation infrastructure. Even now, decades later, DTW is still extending its global reach and building on that history.
