Colorado Springs Airport

Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, also referred to as Colorado Springs Airport, is a public civil-military airport in El Paso County, Colorado, that is owned by the city and situated six miles southeast of the downtown area. Denver International Airport is the busiest commercial service airport in the state, with this one coming in second. Situated on the northern side of runway 13/31, Peterson Space Force Base is an occupant of the airport. Located on the eastern edge of Colorado Springs, the airport may be reached via Powers Boulevard/SH 21 and Milton E. Proby Parkway. East of the terminal, Milton E. Proby Parkway separates into an upper departures drop-off area and a lower arrivals pick-up area. The parkway winds around the airport and runs north to the terminal, featuring exits for both long-term and short-term parking as well as rental vehicle return.

The Colorado Springs Airport unveiled its expansion proposal in March 2022. It called for moving the control tower, combining other airport services, and adding 24 gates, double the number that was previously planned. Boeing utilized it for high altitude testing in 2024 due of its high height. There are two concourses at the single terminal at Colorado Springs Airport. The second concourse, known as the Western Pacific Airlines concourse, includes gates 14–18 (there is no gate 13) and is mostly used for meetings. Only one, the bigger concourse with gates 1–12, has ever been used for commercial purposes. It is necessary to exit the guarded area, proceed through the main terminal, and travel down a lengthy hallway in order to access the concourses. These gates are closed to the general public. The airport intends to destroy gates 14–18 because they are approaching the end of their useful lives, and the announcement of the construction of 12 gates onto the current terminal reflects this.

The Colorado Springs Airport aims to give travelers the greatest travel experiences possible by offering seamless check-in, straightforward parking, and a quick journey home.  The public transportation system of Colorado Springs, known as Mountain Metropolitan Transit, provides service to the airport. Additionally, private transportation services like Groome Transportation are offered. Car rentals are available at airports from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, and National Car Rental. On the lower level, across from baggage claim, and outside the protected area, are the rental vehicle check-in desks.
