Boise Airport

Boise Airport

The combined civil-military Boise Airport is located in Ada County, three miles (5 km) south of downtown Boise, in the western United States state of Idaho. Under the direction of an airport commission, the Boise Department of Aviation manages the airport. Being the busiest airport in the state, it handles about ten times as many passengers as Idaho Falls, the second busiest airport, and more passengers than all other airports in Idaho put together. Boise is a landing rights airfield, meaning that before landing, foreign general aviation aircraft must get authorization from a Customs and Border Protection officer.

Boise serves as a commercial and general aviation airport in addition to being operated concurrently by the 124th Fighter Wing (124 FW) of the Idaho Air National Guard as a USAF military installation on the Gowen Field Air National Guard Base part of the airport. The A-10 Thunderbolt II is flown by the 124 FW. Boise serves as the headquarters of the National Interagency Fire Center, and the Boise Airport provides logistical assistance. During the wildfire season, Boise Airport serves as a base for aerial firefighting air tankers operated by the United States Forest Service (USFS).

The number of passengers enplaned at Boise Airport in 2022 was 2,248,435; this is a 24% increase from 1,806,838 in 2021. Nine airlines are served by Boise Airport, which now has a single terminal with two concourses. A combined security checkpoint with TSA PreCheck and CLEAR Security, ticketing counters, offices, and fast-food restaurants are all located within the three-story terminal, which also houses four luggage carousels and ground-level rental car kiosks. With a total of 13 jet bridges, the two concourses feature 24 gates. With one jet bridge serving each of B21 a/b and B22 a/b, Concourse B comprises eleven gates in total. A revised master plan representing the short-, medium-, and long-term goals of Boise Airport was published in 2016. The airport's expansion and revitalization would be symbolized by each of these phrases, with the biggest projects being the construction of three new parking garages, improvements to Concourse B, and a new Concourse A. We are pleased to provide our visitors with an extensive array of eateries and retail establishments at the Boise Airport.
