Six miles west of Lexington's downtown lies the public Blue Grass Airport in Fayette County, Kentucky, in the United States. The new runway is located in the same area as the old one, with the exception that it overlapped runway 22.
The Aviation Museum of Kentucky, which is housed near Blue Grass Airport, has almost 25,000 square feet of exhibit space dedicated to displaying restored aircraft and memorabilia. The opening year for the current main terminal building is 1977. On April 18, 2007, Blue Grass Airport Inaugurated Concourse B, which now has six boarding gates and four more jet bridges.
