Alexandria International Airport

Alexandria International Airport is a public sector airport situated west of the central business district of Alexandria, Louisiana, United States. This airport is operated by an independent political subdivision of the State of Louisiana known as the England Authority. It is built at an elevation of 89 ft above sea level and has a covering area of about 3,212 acres. The AEX airport is owned by the England Economic and Industrial Development District (England Authority) which has ten members of the Board of Commissioners with Scott Gammel being the Airport Manager. 

The U.S military uses the airfield of this airport for the transportation of U.S. troops to overseas locations and charter flights. These exercises and other flight operations take place on its two runways. One runway is made of concrete and the other one is made of a mixture of asphalt and concrete. These runways are capable of operating a wide range of aircrafts ranging from smaller jets to wide-body aircrafts. 

Among different domestic and international airlines operating from the Alexandria airport, the most frequent ones are United, COPA Panama, Virgin Atlantic, and KLM Royal Dutch. Also, the most popular routes from Alexandria are Alexandria to Atlanta and Alexandria to Houston with 1184 and 454 weekly flights respectively. Talking about the terminal of this airport, it is named after the first chairman of the England Airpark Authority who was James L. Meyer.
